Urea 46%: A Global Essential for Agriculture & Industry
Urea 46%, also known as Carbamide (CO(NH₂)₂), is the world’s most widely used nitrogen fertilizer and one of the most important industrial chemical products. With a nitrogen content of approximately 46%, urea provides the highest nitrogen concentration among solid nitrogen fertilizers — making it an efficient and cost-effective solution for both agricultural and industrial applications.
At Yakut Trade, we supply high-quality Urea 46% from verified and reputable producers, ensuring international standards, consistent quality, and reliable global logistics.
What Is Urea 46%?
Urea is an organic chemical compound containing 46% nitrogen by weight. It appears as white crystalline granules or prills and is highly soluble in water. Due to its high nitrogen concentration, ease of transportation, and competitive cost, urea has become the preferred nitrogen source for farmers and industries worldwide.

Industrial Applications
AdBlue® / DEF Production
One of the fastest-growing industrial uses of urea is the production of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), commercially known as AdBlue®. Automotive-grade urea is dissolved in demineralized water to produce DEF, used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems to reduce harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines.
AdBlue production requires highly purified technical-grade urea in accordance with ISO 22241 standards.
Resin Manufacturing
A key raw material in urea-formaldehyde resins used in:
MDF Boards • Particle Boards • Plywood • Furniture • Construction Materials
Melamine Production
A significant portion of industrial urea is used in melamine, applied in:
Decorative laminates • Kitchenware • Coatings • Industrial plastics • Flame-retardant materials

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between prilled and granular urea 46%?
Prilled urea has a smaller particle size and dissolves faster, making it well suited to blending and liquid fertilizer production. Granular urea has a larger particle size, superior mechanical strength, lower dust generation, and better handling — making it the preferred choice for bulk applications and long export chains. Both are supplied at 46% minimum nitrogen.
Can agricultural urea 46% be used to make AdBlue / DEF?
No. AdBlue® / DEF production requires highly purified technical-grade urea that complies with ISO 22241 standards, with very low biuret and impurity levels. Standard agricultural-grade urea does not meet these requirements. Yakut Trade can source the appropriate grade for your specific application — please specify your intended use when requesting a quote.
What packaging and quantities are available?
Urea 46% is available in 50 Kg PP or PE bags, 500 Kg and 1,000 Kg jumbo bags, containerized shipments, and bulk vessel shipments. Private label packaging is available upon request. Minimum order quantities depend on producer availability and the delivery route.
What quality certificates are provided?
Depending on the transaction, documentation may include a Certificate of Analysis (COA), Certificate of Origin, SGS / Bureau Veritas / Intertek inspection report, Phytosanitary Certificate, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Bill of Lading. Third-party inspection can be arranged through internationally recognized agencies upon buyer request.
Which Incoterms does Yakut Trade offer for urea 46%?
Urea 46% is available under international Incoterms including FOB, CFR, CIF, FCA, CPT, and DAP. The right structure depends on your logistics capability and destination. Supply capability is subject to producer availability and contractual arrangements — contact our commercial team to discuss your requirements.
